How to Get Smooth Skin: 6 Easy Tips

You might imagine that women worry about aging skin when in their 40s or more, but 28% of women under age 25 are already worrying about the signs of aging. And this number is 54 percent for those aged 35 to 44.

It doesn’t even have to be every day. If you can purchase some body scrub and use it on your entire body (use a different one for your face) at least once a week, that should make a huge difference in how smooth your skin looks. 

There are lots of options to make homemade body scrubs as well, with simple ingredients that you can find in your kitchen. For example, you could mix honey, coconut oil, and brown sugar to make a decadent moisturizing body scrub on the cheap. This way you can also rest assured that there aren’t any chemicals seeping into your skin due to your regular body scrub activity. 

2. Moisturizer Is Your Best Friend

It’s easy to get lazy when it comes to skincare because you are busy or you get distracted by work, family, or other more visible chores. That’s why if you can make it a routine to put on some moisturizer right when you get out of the shower, this should ensure you don’t forget this important task.

Of course, you should be making sure to drink 7-8 glasses of water every day (or more depending on how much you sweat, how active you are, and how hot your city is). That way your skin will stay moisturized and hydrated from the inside out. 

But you can also help the hydration process by adding some moisturizer from the outside. You can use a natural oil like coconut or almond if your skin is extremely dry and thirsty. Or you can use some other typical moisturizer like Aveeno or Cerave if you wish for something for sensitive skin. 

Whatever it is, make sure to put on a moisturizer of some kind every single day, and more if you live in a dry climate or if you are always in dry centrally-heated rooms during the wintertime. 

3. Get Steam Baths or Do Sauna Visits

This is a technique that European women have been using for ages now, but it’s just now coming into the consciousness of Americans. Steam baths or saunas are a great way of helping your skin detoxify faster and better. You must have noticed how smooth and soft your skin feels after a good sweat session in the sauna or steam bath. 

If you combine a steam bath with a once-a-week body scrub, your skin will be even softer and will rejuvenate even faster. Make sure to drink enough water after visiting the sauna or steam bath, and don’t stay too long in there. You could also combine it with a cold water shower or plunge bath, to get further benefits to your skin and health in general. 

4. Eat Skin-Friendly Foods

Do you break out after you eat a fried meal or a fast-food meal that’s heavily laden with salts, fats, and sugars? Or do you notice that your skin doesn’t look as healthy after you have spent a week eating pizza for lunch and dinner because you are busy finishing up a project? 

You are what you eat. And that applies greatly to your skin. 

That’s why if you wish to have hydrated skin, you need to start by fixing your diet. Make sure to eat lots of fatty fish like mackerel or sardines and healthy fats like avocado and olive oil. And add lots of green leafy vegetables to the mix, to help your skin even further. 

5. Help Your Liver Detox Properly

Your liver is the biggest detoxifying organ in the body. That’s why you need to do all you can to help it detoxify toxins faster and more effectively. 

The first thing to do here is to drink lots of water and to ensure you get 7-8 hours of sleep every night at the right time, that is from 10 pm to 6 am (ideally). This is because your liver works the hardest at night, from 12 am to 3 am. You want to ensure you are fast asleep that night, so you can give your liver the time and space to do what it needs to do.

Also, eating healthy foods like green leafy vegetables will help your liver, and reduce your alcohol, caffeine, and tobacco intake.
